The Journey

“When I was in 9th grade, we planned a school trip that went all the way around Lake Thun. Part of this exciting and long journey included the Panoramabrücke in Sigriswil. After a long stretch of ‘schuene,’ we all stood in front of this fascinating suspension bridge. It took a lot of courage for me to take those first few steps. Not because the bridge was structurally unsafe, but because it was so high. I assume I wouldn’t have had any problems if it weren’t for my fear of heights. I can still remember very clearly the moment I stood in the middle of the bridge. Focused on the view, I could hardly tear myself away from its beauty. The Panorama Bridge bears this name for good reason. It is, in fact, the perfect vantage point to enjoy Lake Thun and its mountain panorama from a single spot. When our class reached the other side, I was told that there was also a hiking trail. However, I was glad that we crossed the bridge to share such a wonderful experience together and let ourselves be enchanted.”

Amazing facts‍

The bridge is 340 meters long, making it the longest suspension bridge in the world. Dare to take a “snapshot” of the depths below. A view into the 182-meter-deep Gummischlucht Gorge will leave you speechless with awe. It forms a stunning link between the towns of Sigriswil and Aeschlen. For those who suffer from a fear of heights, there is also the option of enjoying the panorama via a 45-minute hiking trail. On the 1.8-kilometer-long trail, you’ll also have the opportunity to view the bridge from a different perspective.

Filming on the world's longest suspension bridge?

However, the Sigriswil Panorama Bridge is not only known as a destination for day trips, but also as a filming location for movies and TV series. Since 2019, when the Korean drama series “Crash Landing on You” was filmed there, the bridge has become an even bigger attraction than before. Thanks to the series’ large viewership, many tourists visit the famous filming location and are enchanted by the magic of nature.
