Once upon a time ... Where does the tradition come from?
The "Fulehung" is the best-known figure in the Thun "Ausschiesset" tradition. Its origins go back to the Battle of Murten in 1476, when the Thun fighters captured the court jester of Charles the Bold.
Today, the Fulehung parades through the streets of Thun's old town for three days, wearing a mask and carrying a wooden log. He chases the crowds, hands out sweets to the children - and anyone who gets too close to him feels the log on their own body.
The Ausschiesset in Thun is a spectacle for young and old: with a colorful parade, exciting crossbow shooting, atmospheric concerts and the traditional cadet ball, there is a lot going on in Thun this weekend. We are also right in the middle of the action - with our gastronomic highlights at Fulehung.
