From Krone to your own restaurant

After many formative years, we will be saying goodbye to our Deputy Director Dirk Wunderlich at the end of March 2025. With drive, commitment and his unmistakable sense of humor, he has had a decisive influence on Krone . He is now fulfilling his long-cherished dream of opening his own restaurant.

A REVIEW WITH DIRK

"The dream of owning my own restaurant has been with me since my apprenticeship. I was always aware that experience and responsibility were important," says Dirk.

"Over the past 13 years, I've been able to gain exactly these experiences at Krone and Schützen Steffisburg - both positive and negative."

"I am sure that now is the right time to realize my life's dream and although it will be very difficult for me to leave Krone and above all this great team behind, I firmly believe that I would regret not having taken this opportunity at some point."

When asked about the most formative moments at Krone , he says: "I like to think back to my development from service employee to deputy director and the trust that was placed in me. That is not something to be taken for granted, and I am very grateful for that."

What does he take away? "Teamwork is the be-all and end-all in this industry. A passion for the job is also an important part of successfully achieving your goal."

This should never be lost, even in difficult times. And the third point:

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained! With this in mind, I'm looking forward to everything that's to come and more wonderful moments!"

VOICES FROM THE MANAGEMENT & THE TEAM

Our Director Melanie Fontana has mixed feelings about the farewell: "We are not only losing a Vice Director, but also a warm colleague and friend. Dirk has made a lasting impression on Krone ." She adds with a smile:

"His humor always provided unforgettable moments."

The classic with the laughing and crying eyes doesn't stay away from the team either. "I learned a lot from him, without him I might not be at Krone today. We will miss him very much, but we are also happy for him," says Lisa, Dirk's former apprentice and now Head of Restoration at Krone.

The conclusion is clear: despite a touch of melancholy, motivated employees, a strongly anchored concept of quality and, above all, the joy that Dirk will remain part of the Thun gastronomy scene.

LOOKING AHEAD

Our team at Krone will continue to work with full commitment and passion and are looking for a new, dedicated personality to join our chaotic bunch. We are looking forward to an exciting year full of exciting events, lasting memories and lots of team spirit. Until the end of March, of course, with Dirk!

We already thank Dirk for 13 unforgettable years and look forward to visiting him soon in your own restaurant - as our friend and proud host.
